Madeleine McCann ('Maddie') disappeared in the evening of Thursday, 3 May 2007 in
the Portugese resort of Praia da Luz in the Algarve.
5:30 pm-
The two-year-old twins Sean and Amelie and their sister, three-year-old Madeleine (Beth) McCann, have been picked
up from their kids club.
6:00 pm- Gerry McCann has his third tennis
lesson of the day.
6:30 pm- Gerry McCann asks David Payne, a close friend
of the McCann's, to check up on Kate and the children.
Mr. Payne tells Gerry McCann the children are too tired to go outside
again and are already in their pyjamas.
7:00 pm- The tennis lesson is over.
7:30 pm- The childeren are read a bedtime
story by Gerry McCann and then fall asleep.
8:30 pm- Gerry and Kate McCann leave
for the Tapas Restaurant. The rest of their friends (now known as the Tapas 7) arrive a few minutes later. The group include
Russell O'Brien and his partner Jane Tanner, Rachael and Matthew Oldfield, Fiona and David Payne and Mrs Payne's mother Dianne
Webster.
9:05 pm- A few minutes
past 9 o'clock Gerry McCann checks on the children. He spents a minute watching them sleep.
9:10 pm- When he returns to the Tapas
Restaurant he accidentally bumps into a friend, Jeremy Wilkins. Gerry McCann crosses the road because he wants to talk to
Mr. Wilkins.
9:15 pm- Jane Tanner also wants to check
on her own children. She passes Gerry who is still talking to Mr. Wilkins. At the top of the road she sees a man walking,
and she is sure that this man is carrying a child (she believes it is a girl). Although she thinks it's odd, she doesn't pay
much attention to it.
9:30 pm- Matt Oldfield is the next person
to check on his own, and the McCann children. He does see the twins and they are sleeping sleep peacefully. He assumes Madeleine
is alright too. He leaves the apartment moments later.
10:00 pm- Kate McCann is the one who discovers
that Madeleine is missing. She searches the apartment three times, but does not find the then 3-year-old little girl.
10:15 pm- Matt Oldfield eventually calls the
police from the Ocean Club front desk. The police does not show up.
